promotion is vital.You may have a perfect site, but unless you register
it with the major search engines no one will find you! You don't have
to register with all the smalller search engines and directories as most
people only use the main ones when they are looking for a particular product
or service.
The main search engines are Yahoo, Alta Vista, Lycos, Google and Excite.
Keywords are of vital importance as each engine has a spider which trawls through your site and picks up these keywords. When a visitor types a keyword into the search engine it will display all sites with the relevant keyword.
Write down as many

helps you find all keyword combinations that bear any relation to your
business or service. This one isn't free but it is very good.
Include keywords in the title of your site or page and try to make the first word a keyword.
Add keywords to the main text of the page particularly in the first paragraph. It is important to over deliver keywords both in the title and the text of your site, at the same time making sure that your content is relevant and informative.
For easy web site promotion try using free programmes that will upload your site automatically to them. One that I use is Self Promotion.com You can set it to automatically upload your site every month. It's important to do this as it helps to keep your site in the top listings.
Pay per click
search engines work by bidding for keywords. This is an immediate way
to get your site listed in top search engines such as google and yahoo.
You bid for specifically targeted keywords that relate to your site. You
only pay for click throughs to your site and bidding can start for as little
as $0.1 depending on the popularity of the keyword. The highest bidder for
a keyword receives top placement.
Submit ezine articles to ezine databases. Submitting ezine articles is free and often one of the best ways of getting visitors to your site. Write about a subject that relates to your site, and submit it to some of the ezine databases such as articlecity.com.
Write your own ezine. Ezines are a great way to encourage traffic to your site.
An e-zine is like an online magazine, it's a way of giving visitors regular information in your chosen field, and updates relating to your website, as well as tips and reviews about products.
Advertise your e-zine on your site. Visitors fill in an online form to subscribe to the ezine. This is a good way to build up a potential customer database. Don't hard sell in your e-zine, but simply provide information in your chosen field, with some text links to products or services added.
Always have an unsubscribe option at the end of each e-zine, giving visitors the option to unsubscribe if they wish.
